Art from the Land

October 2019 at Pollack Swamp

A group of local people joined ecological consultant Dan Hutton and artist Wendy McDonald for this unique workshop.

They explored and reflected on the restoration of the significant ecological, cultural and archaeological Barapa Barapa people’s site of the Pollack Swamp. Located between Barham and Swan Hill in a flora reserve in the Gunbower-Koondrook-Perricoota Forest icon site it is known locally as The Pollack, derived from the Barapa Barapa word Pulitj meaning swamp.

Dan introduced the area and discussion, before Wendy encouraged the group to respond, leading them through the mediums of charcoal, brush and ink.
