TWIG 9

October 2013 at Cohuna with the Bowles family

The sound of drums rang out over Cohuna when Melbourne percussionist Dave Houston lived and worked at the Bowles’ farm for four days.

An informal get together started the residency off, Dave showing off his skills and bringing the community along for a go.

Weekend workshops resulted in a community performance piece, which was premiered to the public at the Swan Hill Regional Gallery on 26 October, for the Yak Yak launch and ACRE celebration.

It was the last of four TWIG residencies held in September and October 2013 across the region.

“Dave got all the people involved in the workshop and everyone looked like they enjoyed themself, even if some of us struggled to beat in time. I looked across at my dad, he had a big grin on his face hitting the drum with such enthusiasm.”
